Old Rectory

In some ways the place remains in a time-capsule. The ancient rock, standing stones, monuments, castles and churches keep history so near the surface. Rural life is still rural and the race against time seems distant and futile. This is an area where the elements are still very much in command.

Details: Emma Stewardson moved to Castlemartin in 1999 to live by the sea and liberate herself from the rat race. The Old Rectory was in need of attention and has been restored and redecorated with muted and gentle colours. Although rooms are high-ceilinged the atmosphere is calm and informal.

Emma welcomes guests from all over the world and enjoys sharing her house and some local secrets with them. The Eatwellsleepwell combination is at the hub of Emma's philosophy for a happy, healthy holiday.

Eatwellsleepwell and Escape...

Castlemartin is a fairly remote spot - a far cry from the hum-drum of every day city life. Rolling country and wild coastal scenery to feast the eyes. The pace at The Old Rectory is comfortable. Large firm beds are provided to ensure guests can float away into deep revitalising and undisturbed slumber. Crackling log fires for the colder months and bottles of chilled wine in the garden whilst the skies are bright with sunshine.

Choose between B&B...

Emma is the first to understand how important a holiday can be. Stay a weekend or a week; include family and friends to make up a House Party for a wildly sociable time or opt for the tranquility of a romantic and peaceful visit for two. Either way The Old Rectory is a wonderful location for those wishing to avoid crowds, noise and hideous expense.

The trick is that your special welcome at The Old Rectory is into Emma's home, not a Hotel. There are no trouser presses or televisions. Instead there are books, magazines, board games and plenty of opportunities to chat and laugh.

The Old Rectory is perfect for wedding celebrations, family reunions or traditional house parties at any time of year including Christmas and the New Year. Always remember warm clothing as the house is on the Atlantic Ocean coast. Log/Coal Fires in bedroom by request and open fires in dining and drawing rooms.

Twin or double bedrooms available with private bathrooms. Well behaved children welcomed and pets by arrangement only

Dining

Why choose refined and synthetic foods when you can treat yourself to some of the finest, cleanest and freshest organic produce in the UK? Pembrokeshire proudly provides stunning ingredients and Emma enjoys creating wholesome dishes for supper for you to savour in the candlelit dining room. Bon appetit!

There is a full drinks licence and Emma can offer an excellent selection of organic wines and spirits. Just what the doctor ordered. A large gin with a twist of lemon and a splash of Castlemartin tonic. Bottoms Up!

The Old Rectory’s cooked breakfast normally includes local sausages, dry cured bacon, home laid eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms (seaweed, if available). Homemade bread and freshly ground coffee too. Freshly made veg and fruit juices will be available at breakfast. Emma has found them so beneficial and energising herself that she would like to recommend them to her guests. Additional £1.50 for these juices.

Emma enjoys creating simple and wholesome food for her guests. Pembrokeshire provides some of the finest natural ingredients you’ll find in the UK, including Shellfish, Wet Fish, Beef, Lamb, Pork and Vegetables, Seaweed, Cheeses, Breads, Poultry and Game. She tends to avoid supermarket shopping in order to support local farmers and does not own a microwave oven.

Food from the Old Rectory kitchen, is therefore fresh clean and cooked to order. Vegetarians and coeliacs can be catered for easily, with a little forewarning.
