Details: Given the peace and tranquillity of the hotel, you would be forgiven for thinking you were miles from anywhere, but Ty Mawr Hotel offers a rural, yet accessible Carmarthenshire country retreat that is:

- 30 minute drive from the end of the M4

- 15 minutes away from Carmarthen itself

The hotel building is listed and dates back to the 15th Century. Ty Mawr Hotel has historical connections that go back to the 1839 Rebecca Riots of West Wales.

Previously a farmhouse, the building was tastefully renovated over 30 years ago and many of the buildings original features still remain.

This intimate country hideaway, has everything you would expect from a property dating from the 15th Century with thick stone walls, low ceilings, open fires, tiled floors and old wooden beams.

All bedrooms have tea and coffee making facilities, TV's, bathrobes for guest use, hairdryers and alarm clocks.

Cereals, fruit and toast with a good choice of cooked breakfast to follow including a full welsh breakfast with sausages, egg, and thick bacon.

The owners take great pride in the food at Ty Mawr and with all their food locally sourced from around and near Carmarthenshire they are sure that you will enjoy the beginning of your day at Ty Mawr.

Cooked Breakfasts include a choice of the following:

Home Cured Bacon from Julian Cooper
Mushrooms
Tomatoes (from our own kitchen garden soon)
Baked Beans
Free-range eggs (from small holding up the road)
Laverbread rolled in oatmeal
Toast is served with Honey, Jam and Marmalade all made by a lady from Brynmelyn Farm in Horeb who keeps her own bees

The Restaurant at Ty Mawr
"Our growing reputation for good food is based upon wholesome Welsh cuisine simply prepared from the finest local ingredients". The restaurant features:

seasonal ingredients to produce a daily-changing menu
all food is freshly-cooked to order
locally sourced ingredients

Ty Mawr's suppliers read like a 'who's who' taken from the Real Food manifesto highlighting the importance of fresh, quality local produce.

The restaurant's food is partly organic, and it all contributes to its approach to tasty, wholesome Welsh cuisine simply prepared from the finest ingredients.

Ty Mawr’s chef (and owner) Steve has excellent relationships with local suppliers so that the majority of the ingredients for his dishes come from the valley itself. Welsh Black Beef comes from a nearby farm that has won an award for its meat from the True Taste Wales Food and Drink Awards 2003-4.
