St Ishmael's was a medieval village that was comprehensively destroyed by a storm over 300 years ago.
Interestingly another storm in 2000 caused some of the remains to be revealed. Today, very little remains of the town except the chapel, perched on a hill overlooking the Tywi estuary, with far reaching views over to Llansteffan Castle.
