Details: Carmarthenshire - with its lush green countryside, fast and slow flowing rivers and crag topped castles such as Carreg Cennen, is often called the garden of Wales. Indeed, it is home to the National Botanic Garden of Wales. Another highlight of this verdant county is the beguiling village of Laugharne, home to Dylan Thomas and believed to be the inspiration for the village of Llareggub in “Under Milk Wood”, and a visit to the Dylan Thomas Boathouse is a must for literary fans. The sands at Cefn Sidan are seven miles long, the longest in the country! Nearby, Pendine sands are nearly long and are famous as the location for many land speed record attempts. Steeped in myth and legend, Carmarthen is said to be the birthplace of Merlin, possibly the earliest example of a spin doctor having engineered King Arthur’s rise to the throne, creation of the Round Table and latterly accompanied the king to the Isle of Avalon to die.
