Details: About 10 miles East of Porthcawl off the A48 is the village of Ewenny and the 12th Century Benedictine Ewenny Priory, whose walls are still largely intact. A wooded lane from the Ewenny village takes you to the remains of the priory which has huge walls that date back to the 13th Century and the Church vault has tomb slabs with Norman inscriptions. It was built by William de Londres, the Norman lord of Glamorgan, and completed by 1126. The eastern end houses the tombs of the de Londres family, and is looked after by CADW.

The Ewenny Pottery (tel: 01656 653020) is the oldest working pottery in Wales, dating back to 1610 and still owned by the same family! is situated near to the village.
