Details: Situated eight miles from Haverfordwest, the charming town of Narberth makes an excellent base for exploring both North and South Pembrokeshire. The town is known locally as the “capital” of the Landsker (meaning frontier) borderlands, an area of mid Pembrokeshire that formed the division between the Welsh North Pembrokeshire and the anglicised South. An ancient division that dates all the way back to the Norman colonisation of the South.

Widely regarded as Pembrokeshire’s prime boutique shopping destination, Narberth is a vibrant market town with a lovely community feel to it. There are many distractions for the ardent shopper such as gift shops, clothes shops that sell not only surf clothes but also smart ladies wear and lingerie, jewellery and art. The Queen’s Hall is an exciting venue that plays host to music concerts and theatre. The Oriel gallery, housed within the Queen’s Hall exhibits art from a different artist each month, whilst Oriel Fach (small) shows art from both well known and new artists.

Narberth has many options for the discerning diner, lunch at the Café Ole in the Ultra Comida Deli offers an authentic taste of Spain, whilst The Carreg Restaurant serves soup, salads, ciabattas and paninis at lunch time while their evening menu is contemporary and cooked by first class chefs. The Q Café at The Queen’s Hall also serves lunches and pub food can be found at The Coach and Horses and The Angel.

For Animal lovers and garden enthusiasts the Begelly Countryside Gardens and Monkey Sanctuary at nearby Begelly is a must see. http://www.begellycountrysidegardens.co.uk
