Details: Newgale

Situated close to the magical city of St David’s and the pretty harbour village of Solva is the small village of Newgale.

The approach to Newgale is spectacular, as it is situated at the bottom of a hill and has a huge west facing beach; Newgale Sands, with the village of Newgale at the north end. This end of the beach is popular with families and with surfers and other water sport enthusiasts. The southern end of the beach is usually quieter. The beach is a blue flag beach, which is a European standard that means the water quality is excellent and the beach has public toilets and dog controls, amongst other things. The beach is both sand and pebbles, and there is a lifeguard on patrol during the summer. The beach is fully exposed to the Atlantic winds, and is the longest beach on St Bride's Bay. Facilities at Newgale include a campsite, a surf shop Newsurf which rents out equipment as well as selling it. Last but by no means least is the Duke of Edinburgh pub, a very welcoming place that offers good food and drink.
